Aunti who has AIDS

"Shoots, if I looked any better, people would start to WISH they had what I had." These were the first words I heard come sassing out of her mouth. She speaks with an attitude and brings attention to every word. Her body is light and strong. She speaks a thousand miles an hour and her stories take you around the world and back in time. She hops all over the place, each detail containing a story within itself. Each story holding a flood of emotion. She laughs and cries and carries on.

She has AIDS. Actually, at this time she is HIV positive. AIDS is when your T-cell count is under 200 and at this moment this courageous woman flies high with a 600 count. She was diagnosed with this condition a year ago. In that year, and in all her years, my new Aunti has been through hell and back.

Her ability to speak about the experience of carrying AIDS demands respect and empathy. She is proud to share her story now. It took one year of intense healing in both the body and the heart. Now she is ready to share her journey.

It's all G!
